Kap(SS) 4 Kid(SS) is a United States Submarine Veterans, Inc. Community Outreach Program that brings comfort and joy to medically challenged children and their families. The first Kap(SS) 4 Kid(SS) program was started in Temecula, CA in 2007 and has since grown to a nationwide.

Children and their families are visited to relieve tedium of medical procedures, such as chemotherapy and radiation treatment. The health care professionals are supported in their efforts to comfort the patients and parents. Bringing a smile to the faces of these deserving children and providing a diversion is our most rewarding goal.
Monthly visits to Children’s Hospital of Aurora, Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children, Ronald McDonald House, Brent’s Place and Private Residences. Our first visit was to Ronald McDonald House November 16, 2011.

During a visit Ball caps, Honorary Submariner Certificates, Rub on Tattoos wrist bands, stuffed animals, crayons and coloring books are given to the children.

We share information on submarines, what it is like to live on a submarine, Ball caps are signed by members along with their qualification boat and hull number so that the children can learn about the boat by googling its name.

KAP(SS) 4 KID(SS)       11/30/2018, 2018
On November 30, 2018 Jimmy Alfaro, Cora Tostevin, Sandy and Gene Kellar visited Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children.  It was a typical visit with them, relaxed and able to hold extended conversations with families.  One of the patients came down from her room to see us.
